This wine is a vivid plum color that lightens to fuchsia when you give it a swirl. The aroma has bright notes of boysenberries and raspberry jam with a bit of spice. This is a complex wine with flavors of plum, wild currant and leather, enlivened with baking spices and cardamom. Tannat is a rare varietal, not easy to find in the foothills. We have only a half acre under production, so we keep our Tannat exclusive for our club members. Pair it with roasted lamb, spicy tapas, or venison stew.

Winemaker Notes
Our tannat vineyard is a tiny 1/2 acre split up into two 1/4 acre blocks. Yields are moderate but still only about 1.5 tons total! We irrigate one block and dry farm the other to create two different expressions of this amazing grape. The irrigated block brings softer tannins and more red fruit character. The dry farmed blocks have big aggressive tannins that Tannat is known for and a nice earthiness to it. Each lot is fermented in individual small batches and aged in french oak for 18-24 months. We then blend the two lots back together in a ratio that creates the perfect balance between fruit and tannin making this wine great to drink alone for your bold wine lovers and or to pair with that grilled t-bone to help soften those massive tannins.
